It's that time of year again! The sun is peeping out from behind it's winter hibernation and all of a sudden the buzz of spring is in the air! We know the one thing on your mind is P R O M!

It's the one time of year that you get to doll up in a gorgeous elegant gown and feel pampered and beautified while you enjoy a fun evening of celebration, glam and dancing! We know if you're anything like us- you are a beauty loving fanatic! When I was in high school, prom was on my mind from the very first week that school started. All year long my mind was roaming from which boutiques and websites to look at for my perfect dress, to which beauty treatments and products are a must for my beauty regimen preparation! Well, today, I'm here for YOU with the wealth of knowledge that I've learned from my four years of prom experience and research!

Top Prom Beauty tips!

Skincare- 

Okay dolls, here's the thing- If you have an old, beat up, breaking down, falling apart house.. throwing a little paint on the wall is not going to fix the breaking, crumbling foundation. Beauty and skincare are similar to this same scenario! Makeup is fun and enhances the natural beauty and base that you ALREADY have! To create the most flawless, gorgeous makeup finish.. it all starts with your face before you even apply an ounce of makeup. Making sure that your skin is bright, hydrated, clean and smooth is going to ensure that you have a fresh, strong base to apply all of your beautiful products to! Ensuring that you have a beauty routine every evening that includes removing your makeup, cleansing your face with a foaming or cream based face wash and moisturizing your skin is going to be vital in your beauty routine. 

DON'T- The evening before prom is NOT the time to test out that deep cleansing charcoal mask trend you've always been wondering about or the skin purifying mask that you've had sitting on your vanity for months just dying to try out! Using any kind of face mask, cleanse or treatment that claims to be "deep cleansing" "purifying" or "extracting" is NOT going to be your friend. Sure it might be all nice and great to have your skin feeling purified of every blemish, toxin, dirt or oil that has ever gotten trapped inside those tiny little pores of yours. HOWEVER.. you know that saying "Things have to get worse before they can get better" well that saying is very true here! As your treatment works it's little magic to purify your skin and pull out every irritation, all of those blemishes are going to draw out from the depths of your skin and pull out to the skin's surface. Hence... three new BEAUTIFUL blemishes fresh and red right on your face on your very special photo-op day!

DO- Keep it simple, Dolls! Remove all of your makeup and cleanse your skin with gentle face wash. The night before prom, feel free to do a gentle, hydrating face mask that is primarily just working to nourish or hydrate your skin. If you do opt for a gentle, moisturizing face mask, be sure that you use one that you have tried out previously and know that your skin does not react strangely to it. Be sure to remember to properly moisturize your skin and don't forget the under-eye area! Keeping your skin feeling fresh and hydrated is going to ensure a flawless application. There's nothing worse than trying to blend out that foundation on top of a dry, dehydrated face... we're aiming for glowing, fresh skin here ladies! 

Tan-

We all know this one simple little fact that we just can not deny... we look better in Summer! It's just the truth! Having a warm, summery bronzed glow puts all of us women in our best looks. When Winter gloom begins to have it's way, we begin to look dull, dry and dehydrated. As the vitamins and nutrients from the summer sun are running on empty.. our appearance sure begins to show it! 

DON'T-  

Ladies, Ladies, PLEASE! No more tanning beds! The cat is out of the bag.. these tanning beds that we once held so dear and found in our hearts.. have now been alarmingly clear... they are NOT our friends! They dehydrate the skin, increase chances of diseases and skyrocket your odds of cancers and other horrible health risks. 

DO-

Sunless tan! It's the day in age that we can pop in a salon and leave looking bronzed, glowing and healthy in just one quick instant! I will caution you.. it's very important that you go to a spray-tanning salon that you trust! We don't want to see you pop out looking bright orange or streaky! Sunless airbrushing will ensure a  flawless, customized tan that is going to highlight any makeup look, hairstyle or dress that you choose! You'll look healthy, beautiful and instantly radiant! 

HD Makeup- 

Makeup is the beautiful, FUN part about dolling up for prom. Whether you are looking for a natural bronzed simple look, a fun eccentric smokey eye or a feminine rosy look.. PROM is the perfect time to try new makeup trends and doll up a little more glam than usual.

Events such as the hollywood red carpet, weddings and PROM all have one thing in common... PHOTOS! You know that on your big prom day, you'll be smiling and cheesing for countless photos. One thing you may or may not know is this- your makeup is going to affect the way that your flash photography photos turn out. 

Don't- 

Number one on the list of makeup DONTS would be makeup with minerals and a high spf. Makeup with a lot of minerals or spf block will clash with the flash photography and will create a "white out" face look. Your coloring and features will get blown out in the images and you will loose all of your color, warmth and dimension. 

Do-

 Ensure that your makeup is not made with a mineral base, look for a liquid foundation without any spf or with a very low spf. Also ensure that your face moisturizer has a very low or zero spf. To secure a smooth, radiant, flawless look- Set your makeup with a translucent HD powder to set, blur and perfect your look!  Our favorite HD translucent powder floats over top the skin, filling in fine lines, wrinkles and unsightly pores.
